Burning River Ride 2010
**Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Burning River Ride has been postponed until Summer 2011. Please check back as more details will be posted soon. We are still accepting reservations/donations for the 2011 Ride. Any questions can be forwarded to Rebecca Strong at rstrong@atfgc.org.**
The Burning River Ride is a family-friendly,
day-long event that will take place at Lincoln Park in Tremont on Saturday,
August 28, 2010. The Burning River Ride
was initiated in 2008 and has grown from 20 riders that year, to more than 50
riders in 2009. In our prior
rides, we focused on the more serious bike rider. In 2010 we seek to make the
ride more accessible to the casual biker, families and our clients in addition
to providing a challenge for the more serious rider. We anticipate in excess of 200 participants this year.
The ride will start in
Lincoln Park, then lead riders through Steelyard Commons eventually following
the Ohio Erie Canal and the Cuyahoga Valley National Railway into the North
West valley of Akron. All proceeds from the ride directly support the AIDS Taskforce.
Donations are $25 per rider
for the 5 to 100 mile bike ride, and $25 per family for the kids fun ride and
Tremont walk. The 100 mile ride will begin at
7am, the 50 mile ride will begin at 8am, the shorter distance adult ride will
begin at 9am, and the kid’s fun ride will begin at 10am. Walkers can begin their Tremont journey
any time between 9am and 12pm. All
activities start and end at Lincoln Park.
