1.21.09:  The Emotional Impact of HIV/AIDS

Living with HIV/AIDS can be an emotional roller coaster.  Some days you're up.  The next day you're down.  Learn techniques to even out the ride of denial, anger, depression, hope and more.  This 2 hour session begins at 3:00pm.

2.5.09 - 2.19.09:  Meditation

Offered on Thursdays in February from 3:00 - 3:45pm, Sana Loue will guide participants through this relaxing process to calm the mind and the spirit.  Learn how to integrate meditation into your daily practice.  Registration is required; class size limited to 15 students.

2.19.09:  Interfaith Service

Support your spiritual side in this 45-minute non-denominational service.  Join with members of all faith communities to celebrate.   Friends, family, and partners are welcome to participate.  Sana Loue, Presiding Interfaith Minister.  Services are offered every 3rd Thursday through May beginning at 4:15pm.

2.25.09:  Sticking to Your Meds and Care Plan

Amy Hirsch, a pharmacist specializing in HIV meds with the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, will discuss the importance of talking with your doctor about your medications and care plan to promote your health.  Learn techniques for adhering to your care plan and discussing side effects and changes with your doctor.  This 2 hour session begins at 3:00pm.

3.10.09:  Project T.A.L.K. #4

In these back-to-back 1 hour sessions beginning at 12:30pm, work in small groups to identify changes you want to make to promote your health and well-being.  Sessions are hands-on and offer the opportunity to find support as you make changes in your life.  Clients and case managers are encouraged to participate together.

Financial Planning - 4 Part Series presented by the Cleveland Housing Network

3.4.09:  My Money

Identify your goals and how your daily finances affect your ability to meet your goals.  In this hands-on session, you will work in groups to identify barries, create a budget and identify the next steps to meet your goals.  Session runs from 3:00 - 5:00pm.

3.11.09:  My Banking

Have you avoided traditional banks because of the fees?  Because it's too confusing?  Because you're in the ChexSystem and no one will open an account for you?  Clear up the confusion about using a checking or savings account and explore your options.  Learn how to order your own ChexSystem report, and how to improve it so you can open an account.  Session runs from 3:00 - 5:00pm.

3.18.09:  My Credit

Have you ever seen your credit report?  Do yo know what is there, how it got there, and how to make it go away?  How does a creditor view your report?  How can you improve it?  This class will help you find the answers.  Session runs from 3:00 - 5:00pm.

3.25.09:  My Goals

Have you written down your goals?  What are the next steps?  How do your daily habits affect your ability to achieve your goals?  Develop a plan to achieve your goals.  It's ok to dream!  Session runs from 3:00 - 5:00pm.

4.14.09:  Project T.A.L.K.  #5

This session celebrates all the positve changes you've made in your life and provides steps and support to continue on your journey of improving your health and well-being.  This interactive session will be held from 12:30 - 1:30pm.

4.15.09:  Practicing How to Disclose

Presented in the ATGC Oakland Room from 3:00 -5:00pm by Susan Radbourne, Psychologist, Horizons Counseling Services.  You'll work in small groups to identify the reasons you want to share your status with others and why you may not be sure about disclosing to someone.  Role-play with others to practice telling someone with both supportive and less supportive reactions.  Walk through the decision-making process to improve your confidence in sharing your status.

4.21.09:  Advance Care Planning:  It's Your Decision

This 1-hour long sesson presented by staff from the Hospice of the Western Reserve will explain the importance of advance care planning; describe both planning and directives; and discuss ways to creaet an advance directive that acknowledges end-of-life decisions.  One (1) CEU is available for participating professionals.  Session runs from 12:00 noon - 1:00pm in the ATGC Training Room.  All are welcome.

4/29/09:  Eating to Improve Your Health

Learn about the unique nutritional needs of someone living with HIV/AIDS and how to manage nausea, diarrhea, weight loss and weight gain.  This session will also teach you how to prepare a healthy meal on a limited budget.

5.20.09:  Legal AID - Open to the Public

Area attorneys and Legal AID staff will be available from 5:00 - 8:00pm at the Taskforce to answer your questions about domestic disputes, housing, discrimination, expungement and other civil issues.  Brief advice is provided.  Cases requiring additional assistance may be referred.  Help with criminal issues will be referred to the County Defender's Office.

5.27.09:  HIV & Aging

This talk will take a look at common health problems that occur as people age such as heart disease & the factors that can contribute to it – high blood pressure, high cholesterol, & diabetes.  More importantly, it will focus on the impact of both HIV disease & HIV drug therapy on these health problems.  This session concludes with information on how HIV+ patients can live healthier longer!  Presented by Roche Pharmaceuticals in the ATGC Training Room from 4:00 - 5:00pm.
