According to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you are a person diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, you are protected against discrimination. Both of these prohibit discrimination against a person who is qualified and has HIV/AIDS.
504 prohibits health and human service programs or organizations that get federal funds and/or assistance from discriminating against you for living with HIV/AIDS. Title II of ADA not only protects you but it also protects your family and friends from discrimination because of your diagnosis. It also prohibits state and local governments who don’t get federal funding from discriminating as well.
